Search has been nominated by our local Sainsbury’s in Denton Burn. We are in competition with two other charities to become their very prestigious ‘Charity of the Year’. Search is dependent on direct donations from the public to provide much needed support for lonely and disadvantaged, older people in the west of Newcastle. Winning the Sainsbury’s vote could really help the Margaret’s and John’s that need us.

What you can do is mosey over to www.sainsburyslocalcharity.co.uk and then scroll down the page and
1. Write ‘Denton Burn’ into the box that says, “Search stores”,
2. Then click select under ‘Denton Burn Whickham view local’
3. FINALLY (honestly) Click vote under ‘Seach’

I know, I know, Sainsbury’s have spelt our name wrong but please click Vote ‘Seach’ and you will make the magic happen! Last year one chap said in passing while on the trip to Seahouses that he hadn't left the west of Newcastle for 20 years.

Calling all you Creative People!
Search has been selected by Newcastle Arts Team to be involved in their Carnival Arts Project. This arts based programme will include some Newcastle Winter Festival activities. We will engage with the carnival artists and  participate in a variety of dance, music and costume making workshops up until March 2017.

If you would like to get your creative juices going and also partake in some cake, coffee and any of the carnival activities mentioned please contact us at Search on 0191 2737443.

With all the Summer trips and activities you have been waiting for. Also news on new people at Search, lunch clubs in the west of Newcastle and help with money.

Search was the victim of a type of phone hack during the Christmas holidays. Unfortunately, criminals illegally took control of our charity's phones and made a large number of international calls before they were stopped. Our phone provider is billing us for £4400 and this will have a small but significant mpact on the number of activities and support we will be able to provide. If you want to help us to put on activities and trips for older people in the west of Newcastle please go to MyDonate and change things for the better.

As many of you might know Dee Johnson retired from Search earlier this month after 18 years helping older people at Search. Over the years she has supported thousands to receive their proper benefits in old age. There was a party at St James Church on April 3 to thank Dee for all her amazing work. Dee was presented with a bouquet of flowers from the Lord Mayor Hazel Stephenson who is also a Councillor for Benwell.
