The Search Autumn newsletter is out with news about October's Older People's month in Newcastle and lots of new groups and activities in the forthcoming months.

The rightly admired Tyneside Cinema runs regular dementia friendly screenings. Films are usually popular classics in an environmnet where people with dementia and their carers are made to feel welcome. Take a look at their next screening at the end of March:

May 21 was the beginning of a week of activities in Newcastle promotong awareness of Dementia. Lots of Search people were at the Grainger Market sharing information and enjoying themselves. There is life after a dementia diagnosis as these videos of the week's activities demonstrate:

Search is welcoming the neighbouring charity West End Befrienders (WEB) to be part of the Search family. The WEB charity provides support to older people who feel lonely or need advocacy in the west of Newcastle. It relies on volunteers to run groups or to befriend people in their own homes. The two organisations share a lot in common and it makes sense for them to be under the same roof in the Search office on Adelaide Terrace.

The move will take place in April and no activities or groups are expected to experience any change.

It might not seem like it but Spring is definitely on its way. The Spring newsletter from Dearch is full of new trips and groups and activities to help you enjoy the warmer months. Plus news about West End Befrienders coming on board and how to get help with repairs around the house. Get your newsletter here.

Search is now partnered with Unity Lottery and is offering a weekly lottery with a top prize of £25,000 per week plus other prizes. The idea is that Unity Lottery combines the prize money from hundreds of charities across the country but lets you specify which local charity benefits from your contribution. So if you pick Search we will take a proportion of the money and you will be entered into a large, nationwide lottery.

If you would like to find out more about helping Search through a lottery go to Unity Lottery http://www.unitylottery.co.uk/search Alternatively you can download a direct debit application form and print it out and send it by freepost.
